Bridal Hair & Make-up

← Back to blog

Our lovely Sam & Kate from Parley Studio, one of our trusted Parley Partners, have been very busy recently experimenting with different bridal hair and make-up styling.

They are based only a couple of miles from us in a picturesque converted barn and are an amazing duo who can transform you on your day and make you feel a million dollars!

Professional hairdresser Sam Stevenson and make-up artist Kate Carroll, who works for Estee Lauder, work as a team to achieve your desired look for the day (although you can use just one of them if you wish!)  They are extremely approachable and make you feel comfortable when having your consultations and trials and fun to have around you on the morning of your wedding.

Whilst busy preparing for your special day it is important you feel relaxed11391164_1024318414246511_4361794620111520029_n[1] and calm and the hair and make-up team are an integral part of this.  A professional team who can manage the morning and keep an eye on the time, without you feeling you’re on a strict schedule is essential, especially when your juggling lots of excitable bridesmaids and mothers!

You may know exactly the look you want for your day or you may need some help when coming to the decision.  You need to be able to express your thoughts and feelings and be happy with your decision.  What I thought I wanted my hair style to be for my wedding day actually made me look like a 60 year old women and so I quickly changed my mind on that and Sam and I created to a much younger and simpler look which I was happy with!  With my make-up, following my trials I in fact added a bit more liner on the day because I felt I needed it and Kate was very flexible and reassuring, as always.

Hair: there are so many options out there, hair up, hair down, half up & half down.  Then you will need to consider your accessories, your veil, and your evening look.  I love some of the fresh headdresses that they have used on this shoot, provided by Jo and Helen from the Academy of Floristry, again based locally in Throop.  These are so stunning and can make for a very different bridal look.  These can work best with a simple dress and you can tie the flowers in with your bouquet for a really bright summery look.  The other simpler look they have used on this shoot is gypsophila added into the hair, which can be easier to pull of but still a refreshing change.

Make-up: is such a personal thing and what some girls like other girls hate!  You do need more of a full coverage for your wedding day to ensure it lasts the whole day and also so that it shows up in your treasured wedding photographs.  You can see here these are some great shots where the lashes look long and luscious and the skin looks floorless.   A bright red lip is only really something that you would do if it’s a look you go for quite often so your groom doesn’t get a fright!

I know so many of our brides have loved their experiences with Sam & Kate and still use them now and I know many more will in the future.

Love Zara x
