Wedding Trends for 2026

← Back to blog

The wedding landscape in 2026 is evolving in some important ways. Weddings are less about “fitting the mould” and more about experience, expression and intention. Some key shifts:

  • More focus on personalisation and guest experience rather than just aesthetics.

  • Sustainability, mindfulness and ethical considerations are no longer niche—they’re becoming essential.

  • Style-wise there’s a stronger blending of classic and contemporary: nods to tradition, but in new forms.

  • Technology and immersive moments are creeping in, making weddings more multi-sensory.

With that in mind, here are the big trend categories (with examples) for 2026.

1. Style, fashion & décor

Bridal & groom looks

  • The rise of “heritage elegance” (often dubbed the “Bridgerton effect”) — corsetry, Basque-waist silhouettes, pearls, chandeliers.

  • After-party / second-look dresses are firmly in. Brides are opting for a statement mini or jumpsuit post-ceremony.

  • Groom fashion is moving beyond the classic navy/black: think subtle colours, texture, bespoke accessories.

  • Accessories and daring touchpoints matter: bold earrings, dramatic veils/hoods, unique shoes.

Colour palettes & décor

  • Moving away from muted pastels: 2026 is showing stronger colour narratives — jewel tones, punchy combinations, mixed metals

  • Yet alongside that there’s also a “quiet luxury” aesthetic: soft palettes (pale blue + monochrome accents) for a more elegant feel

  • Décor is going big: large floral installations, draped fabrics, immersive environments rather than just backdrops.

Venue & format style

  • All-in-one venues (ceremony → reception → accommodation) are becoming more popular for ease and coherence.

  • Weekday weddings and multi-day celebrations (welcome events, brunches, etc) are gaining traction, giving more flexibility and creativity.

  • Winter/shoulder-season weddings are getting more attention: rich textures, candlelight, cosy atmospheres.

2. Personalisation & guest experience

  • Couples want the day to feel like them. That means customised invites, bespoke signage, handwritten letters to guests, unique objects or favours.

  • The guest experience is front-and-centre: interactive food/drink stations, thoughtful comfort zones, entertainment beyond the dance floor.

  • Technology plays a part: immersive experiences, augmented/virtual reality elements, live-streaming upgrades for far-away guests

3. Sustainability & mindful weddings

  • Sustainable weddings are no longer “nice to have”, they’re becoming a must. From locally-sourced flowers, seasonal menus, waste reduction to choosing venues with minimal travel.

  • Catering especially is leaning into plant-forward menus: not necessarily about fully vegan but showing creativity and intention with veggie-led dishes.

  • Reusability, up-cycled décor, eco-friendly stationery, ethical fashion are all part of the mix.

4. Photography & film, tech & storytelling

  • The “posed wedding photo” is gradually giving way to candid, documentary-style photography: real moments, emotions, movement.

  • Wedding films are becoming more cinematic, quicker, and catered to social sharing.

  • Tech enhancements: AR filters, VR guest experiences, professional multi-angle live-streams for remote viewers.

5. Food, drink & entertainment

  • Entertainment is moving beyond ‘just a DJ’. Expect interactive games (mini-golf, lawn games), surprise acts (singing waiters, caricaturists).

  • Food & drink are elevated: more tasting menus, experiential dining, bespoke cocktails that reflect the couple, more show-stopping food stations.

  • Guests’ comfort & engagement matter: think lounge areas, refreshment zones, flexible moods changing through the day.

2026 is shaping up to be a year where weddings are increasingly crafted experiences—not just events. The big themes are personalisation, immersion, sustainability and style with substance. Whether you lean into bold colour and maximalism or quiet luxury and refined details, the trend is clear: the wedding should feel uniquely yours, from the first save-the-date to the final dance.
