Our Story

Three centuries of history. One extraordinary Dorset manor house wedding venue

Imagine saying your vows in a place where centuries of stories whisper through the walls and gardens. Parley’s grand Georgian manor house was built in 1697, but the wider estate has a deep history in Dorset. Its rambling acres sit in West Parley’s Saxon “Pear Tree Fields” and are brimming with tales of love and legend.

Our History

A legacy written in stone

1800s

The Manor House, built in the early 1800's and the surrounding barns have been lovingly restored over time. Stroll through the Italian Walled Garden, down the tree-lined Avenue, or wander the English country-style grounds, and it’s easy to see why so many people have fallen for our estate. Centuries ago, one Lady of the Manor felt such a deep connection to this place that she requested her heart be returned here, adding to our enduring legacy.

1940s

Taken over by Mr and Mrs Dampney in the 1940s, the estate was once a working dairy farm, and its agricultural roots remain part of its character. From Fread the Stag to Timothy the Emu, the property is full of quirky tales. The manor’s surrounding barns have been carefully restored, preserving their historic integrity.

Today

Still very much a family-run estate, Parley has hosted the weddings of five generations of the Dampney family. Today, the same care and attention is devoted to every guest’s day, blending historic charm with personal touches.
